2003 Whooping Crane Migration

December 1, 2003

Terrell County, Georgia - Making up for many days on the ground, the pilots led the whooping cranes on a 3 hour and 4 minute flight from Gordon County to Terrell County, Georgia. With a tailwind pushing them on, they flew 195 miles, skipping 3 stops, and made the longest flight (in miles and time) since the reintroduction project began.

 

The total distance traveled so far is 954.1 miles.

Sixteen of the whooping cranes from the 2001 and 2002 reintroduction are now in Florida.
