Who: Nineteen whooping cranes led by four ultralight aircraft

 

What: Public flyover and photo opportunity

 

Where: Dunnellon/Marion County Airport, 15070 SE 111th St. (off Hwy 484E), Dunnellon, Fla.

 

When: Tuesday, December 13 (**see note below)
Be at the air field by 8 a.m. to see the flyover, interview members of the public and hear speakers from the Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership. The pilots will return to the air field to land. Media will have the opportunity to interview the ultralight pilots and other crew members.

 

**Note: Event time is based on suitable weather forecasts. It is likely that the media will not be notified to the arrival date until one day before. You can monitor the Web sites listed below for details and updates, as well as call the daily recorded information line at 904-232-2580 ext. 124. The recorded information is updated each morning and will be the first place updated with final arrival information.

 

Weather permitting, the cranes and planes will attempt to pass near the Dunnellon/Marion County Airport en route to their final destination. The schedule for that day would have the public and media arriving by 8 a.m. with an opportunity to talk with the pilots at approximately 9 a.m. once they have delivered the birds to their winter site and returned to the airport.
