About Whooping Cranes & Their Recovery
The whooping crane is an endangered species. There are three wild populations
of whooping cranes in North America:
One population winters in the coastal Texas marshes and summers
at Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada. It is the remnant of the wild population.
A population has been re-introduced in Florida. This population not migrate.
The Whooping Crane Eastern Partnership (WCEP) re-introduced a population that summers in Wisconsin and migrates to the southeastern U.S. for the winter.
